As principal at Thorncliffe School, my first priority is to ensure that all students can be successful and that their school is always a place where they feel welcome and safe. Here at Thorncliffe we believe that all of our students have a right to quality teaching and the academic supports that will enable them to achieve to the very best that they can be. To this end we offer Leveled Literacy Intervention for our students experiencing difficulty with reading and comprehension. We also support out students through parent and community volunteers
We are in the fifth year of the Leader in Me implementation. This program is based on Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective Kids. We are excited about this program as it teaches students positive, lifelong skills and provides them the opportunities to be leaders in the school, at home and in the community.
At Thorncliffe we believe that we cannot do the work alone and that student success is a shared responsibility of the school, parents, and our community. We welcome and encourage our parents to play an active role in the school. As well, we have a Parent Council is a valued part of our school culture and organizes many events throughout the school year that benefit all of our students.
Thorncliffe School is a wonderful learning environment where everyone is valued. Our goal is to nurture positive relationships with our children and their families as well as provide strong teaching practice that ensures that all of our students will be successful both socially and academically.
